Richard is a photographer / designer living and working in Lisbon, Portugal.
He has been interested in photography for more than 15 years, but, has been building up a diverse collection of photographs for only the last three years. Richard is interested in the areas of documentary and street photography, though he occasionally dabbles in landscape photography. In 2010, he went to Moldova and documented the lives of the relatives of his girlfriend and how they have been affected by poverty and emigration.

His background is in Fine Art and he only used photography for studies towards his paintings. In his own opinion he is not the best technical photographer and is not concerned about using the best editing programmes. However, he has a sharp eye, trained during his time as a Fine Art painter.

He participates regularly in The Guardian's Camera Club and in the Street Photography Now Project which is organised by the Photographer's Gallery in London. His work has been reviewed ten times by the Guardian and in March 2010, he won The Guardian's Monthly competition.

In Lisbon, in 2009, he had two small but successful exhibitions. The exhibitions titled,'Sign Language' and 'In the blink of an eye' were both about Portugal and the changes that have been taking place within the country.
